Heritage Adapts!
A global movement of heritage stewards adapting in the face of climate change. Around the world, people like you are on the frontlines, protecting heritage to build stronger, more resilient communities. As climate hazards intensify, now is the time to unite with others who share your mission. Let's turn climate talk into climate action and strengthen the roots of resilience together!

2030 is a critical year for climate action. It's when global greenhouse gas emissions need to drop significantly to avoid the most catastrophic consequences of climate change. It's also the year we need to ramp up adaptation efforts, in line with global climate goals (specifically under the Global Goal on Adaptation of the UFCCC). For the first time, heritage is explicitly included in this global policy as one of seven thematic targets. So, we're rallying together to commit 3000 heritage places and practices to taking adaptation action by 2030! Other areas have their campaigns, its time for heritage to have ours! Will you join us?
The path from commitment to action starts here! Protecting heritage in the climate crisis and fulfilling your pledge to adapt can feel overwhelming. Our Community of Action platform makes it easier by:
- Connecting you with peers and experts for collaboration and inspiration through forums, events, office hours, and more.
- Guiding you through a clear, actionable adaptation roadmap: (1) enhance your climate and heritage literacy (2) engage your communities to create a risk assessment and adaptation plan (3) take action and track progress.
All grounded in a locally-led, values-driven approach that weaves together scientific, Indigenous, and local knowledge to help you adapt in ways that are true to your community.
