Preserving Legacies at the Forefront of Climate Leadership in Heritage

From Rome to Marseille to Budva, Preserving Legacies team members have been amplifying a shared message: heritage is not just what we protect — it is how we adapt.
At three major forums this spring, our team of climate and heritage leaders contributed deep expertise, cross-sectoral insight, and grounded perspectives rooted in community knowledge. Whether in scientific panels, high-level policy sessions, or continental summits, each voice echoed the urgency — and possibility — of a values-based, locally led transformation.
- Dr. Salma Sabour called for a shift from “risk assessment to risk action,” bridging climate science with community knowledge to shape anticipatory adaptation.
- Ms. Délie Ronsin-Quéchon leaned about equitable governance and knowledge sharing across the Global South, ensuring culture and local custodians are at the heart of policy design.
- Ibrahim Tchan, strengthened his connections, making connections that will help him amplify and expand his impact as a local climate and heritage leader in Koutammakou.
- Andrew Potts challenged policymakers to recognize the intersection between climate action and heritage preservation.
Together, they demonstrated that Preserving Legacies is not just participating in the global climate conversation; we are shaping it. Our work doesn’t stop at sites; it moves through classrooms, ministries, town halls, and international summits, building a future where culture and climate solutions go hand in hand.
